New York – June 21, 2019 – For the eighth consecutive year, the Women in Law Empowerment Forum has certified Cooley as a Gold Standard law firm. The Gold Standard is WILEF’s highest level of recognition for commitment to the advancement of women in the legal industry. Cooley was one of 14 firms to meet all six criteria for evaluation. “Cooley is deeply committed to helping women in law achieve their career goals and rise to leadership positions, within the firm and the legal community at large,” said Shira Nadich Levin, partner and co-chair of Cooley’s Women’s Initiative alongside partner Kay Chandler. “Our continued recognition by WILEF is a testament to Cooley’s investment in the advancement of a more diverse workplace and a motivating reminder of the work that lies ahead,” added Chandler. WILEF awards Gold Standard Certification to firms that meet or exceed objective criteria concerning the number of women among equity partners, in firm leadership positions and in the ranks of the most highly compensated partners. In 2018, Diversity Lab
recognized Cooley as one of 41 law firms to achieve Mansfield Certification, which measures whether law firms have affirmatively considered at least 30 percent women and lawyers of color for leadership and governance roles, equity partner promotions and senior lateral positions. In addition, Fortune named Cooley the #1 law firm for women on its
Best Workplace for Women list. Other national and regional publications also consistently recognize Cooley as a great place to work, including Working Mother, Crain’s New York Business and the Human Rights Campaign Foundation.
