Palo Alto – June 25, 2020 – The Women in Law Empowerment Forum has certified Cooley as a Gold Standard law firm for the ninth consecutive year. The Gold Standard is WILEF’s highest level of recognition for commitment to the advancement of women in the legal industry. WILEF awards Gold Standard Certification to firms that meet or exceed objective criteria concerning the number of women among equity partners, in firm leadership positions and in the ranks of the most highly compensated partners. For 2020 certification, firms in the US needed to satisfy the mandatory criterion that 20% of equity partners or 33% of the lawyers becoming equity partners during the past twelve months were women, in addition to meeting three of five other criteria. Cooley was one of 23 firms to meet all six criteria for evaluation. Cooley is consistently distinguished for its inclusive and equitable culture. Each year since launch, Diversity Lab has
recognized Cooley on a list of firms to achieve Mansfield Certification, which measures whether firms have affirmatively considered at least 30 percent women, minority and LGBTQ+ lawyers for leadership and governance roles, equity partner promotions, formal client pitch opportunities and senior lateral positions. In 2019, Cooley was further distinguished with Mansfield “Plus” status for successfully reaching at least 30 percent diverse lawyer representation in a notable number of current leadership roles and committees. In addition, Fortune named Cooley the #1 law firm for women on its
Best Workplace for Women list. Other national and regional publications also often recognize Cooley as a great place to work for all, including Working Mother, Crain’s New York Business and the Human Rights Campaign Foundation.
