Washington, DC – December 9, 2013 – Cooley LLP announced today that real estate and land use partner Antonio Calabrese, real estate partner John Lavoie and patent counseling and litigation partner Erik Milch, were recognized by the
Washingtonian magazine as among the "Best Lawyers" in Washington, DC for 2013.
The list is comprised of Washington, DC's most highly thought of legal talent based on peer review. The 2013 list is the
Washingtonian's largest, ranking the top one percent of DC's 80,000 lawyers within 30 categories. Calabrese who heads the firm's real estate practice focuses his own practice on land use/zoning and complex real estate and commercial leasing matters. Last month, Calabrese and Reston, Va.-based partner Betsy Lewis were named
"Power Players" for the DC-Metro region by
SmartCEO. Lavoie's real estate practice is more concentrated on transactions with emphasis on the acquisition and disposition of commercial real estate, including the purchase, sale, development and leasing of office, industrial, retail and technology-driven properties. Milch represents clients in patent litigation, including enforcement of patents against competitors, and defense of patent infringement allegations, as well as patent procurement and strategic counseling regarding the development of patent portfolios. Cooley's presence in the Washington, DC legal market has grown significantly, most recently as a result of its combination with
Dow Lohnes PLLC's Washington, DC office, which will be effective on January 1, 2014. Dow Lohnes partners John Feore and Jonathan Hart were also named to the 2013
Washingtonian "Best Lawyers" list. When the merger becomes effective, Cooley's DC office will be home to some 130 attorneys. The capabilities of that office are further bolstered by nearly 70 attorneys in its nearby Reston, Va. office. The two offices combine to serve leading Mid-Atlantic businesses and innovators, as well as a national and global client base, including some of the world's most dynamic companies. More at
