First step in ShoreTel’s vision to bridge cloud and on-premise solutions for ultimate choice for businesses
SUNNYVALE, Calif., Sept. 5, 2012 –
ShoreTel (NASDAQ; SHOR), the leading provider of brilliantly simple unified communications platforms, including business phone systems, applications and mobile UC solutions, today announced that
ShoreTel Sky is the new name of its family of cloud-based solutions. Since the acquisition of M5 Networks earlier this year, ShoreTel has been committed to providing businesses of all sizes with the ultimate flexibility in unified communications offering both cloud and on-premise solutions. "One of the reasons I wanted to combine with ShoreTel was the ShoreTel brand. They've built a base of fans that appreciate a brilliantly simple customer experience,”said Dan Hoffman, ShoreTel cloud division president. “This is exactly what we stand for, but ShoreTel has a global brand and M5 is known and respected in a smaller circle. Now that we are a combined company we wanted to create a recognizable brand consistent with the ShoreTel image.” As the market continues to evolve, ShoreTel remains strong and continues to grow revenue and
capture market share. This growth trend is expected to continue as ShoreTel satisfies the market with a solution that is available on-premise or in the cloud. To keep innovation fresh and agile, ShoreTel is developing an architecture that allows the applications to be accessed on-premise or in the cloud. ShoreTel Mobility was the first application that was originally premise-based but is now also available in the cloud from ShoreTel Sky. “With ShoreTel Sky and our plan to bridge hosted applications to on-premise customers, we are uniquely positioned to offer the industry a revolutionary vision for optimizing their business operation through brilliantly simple UC solutions,” said Peter Blackmore, ShoreTel CEO. “We have a long history of providing solutions that customers love and we’re eager to drive industry innovation forward with this initiative to put new applications in the cloud.” The cloud market segment represents a rapidly growing portion of the VoIP market and ShoreTel continues to support its ShoreTel Sky business infrastructure and operations with incremental investments to capitalize on the expected segment growth. As further evidence of growing demand for cloud-based solutions, the ShoreTel cloud division saw bookings increase over 40 percent year-over-year in the June 2012 quarter. More at
