Former Cablevision Executive to Lead Aggressive New Marketing Initiatives, as Edgewater Plans Expansion into SDN and NFV Based Solutions San Jose, CA – May 12, 2014 – Edgewater Networks announced today that John Macario has joined the company as Vice President of Marketing. Mr. Macario brings over 14 years of telecommunications marketing, strategy and brand management experience to his new role. Reporting to Edgewater CEO Dave Norman, he will be responsible for the development and implementation of marketing strategies to drive growth for the company's existing lines of Enterprise Session Border Controller (ESBC) products, and the new Software Defined Networking (SDN) and Network Functions Virtualization (NFV) based products currently in development. "John brings years of industry expertise and a proven track record of developing, executing and managing impactful marketing initiatives aimed at the service provider and channel markets," said Norman. "We are fortunate to add such a respected and experienced individual to Edgewater's already strong executive team as we embark on a significant expansion beyond our core Enterprise ESBC product portfolio." Prior to joining Edgewater Networks, Mr. Macario was Vice President at GrowthMark, a New York City based consultancy, where he led the telecommunications practice. In the last two years, John and his team guided product launches for over 20 North American service providers helping them expand their share of the lucrative market for business services. A seasoned telecommunications expert, Mr. Macario also served as Senior Vice President of Product Strategy for Lightpath, a division of cable giant Cablevision and a market leader in Ethernet-based communication solutions. In this capacity, he was responsible for driving product direction in support of Lightpath's delivery of cutting edge communications services and solutions to businesses across their market footprint. Mr. Macario also served for 11 years as president of Savatar, a consulting and research firm focused on helping service provider, enterprise and equipment vendor clients bring innovative IP communications solutions to market. Under Mr. Macario's leadership, Savatar grew to be widely regarded as an industry vanguard in the business community for IP Communications. Savatar's clients spanned the communications ecosystem, including AT&T, British Telecom, Cisco, Microsoft, Google and others that relied upon Savatar to drive product launches into the business community. Prior to founding Savatar, Mr. Macario held senior positions with Digitas, a Boston-based direct marketing company where he worked on numerous projects in the telecommunications industry, most notably a series of assignments with AT&T supporting its large scale entry into the consumer market for local phone service. "Edgewater has quietly built a wildly successful portfolio of ESBC products for over a decade, and have deployed over a quarter of a million units used by the largest service providers and cable MSOs on the planet," said Macario.
