SARENET PARTICIPATES IN THE DEVELOPMENT OF AN IoT PLATFORM AND BLOCKCHAIN TO ADDRESS THE CHALLENGE OF POLLUTION INDUSTRIAL PLASTIC

https://www.sarenet.es), the operator of voice and data and hosting services specialized in companies, participates in the FOOTPLASTIC project, an IoT and BlockChain platform for monitoring intelligent, evaluation and prediction of industrial technical plastic leaks in corporate value chains that allow generating proposals for measures corrections for its reduction. Ultimately, it is about creating a framework for promote the circular economy in the plastic transformation sector and develop a collective plan that accelerates the transformation towards a more sustainable future. The project aims to develop an effective initiative that addresses the plastic pollution, favoring the recovery of plastic materials through its reintroduction in the manufacturing industry and with a clear orientation to improve its environmental impact. At the same time, it will allow experience a reduction in their plastic raw material costs and an improvement in the efficiency of its transformation and recovery processes.
An industry with a lot of weight The plastics industry is vital to the European economy and its plan to Recovery. Producers of plastic raw materials, transformers and Plastics recyclers, along with machinery manufacturers, represent a value chain that employs more than 1.5 million people in Europe in more than 55,000 companies, most of them SMEs that operate in all European countries. In 2019, these companies generated a turnover of more than 350,000 million euros and contributed more than 30,000 million euros to European public finances. For the development of FOOTPLASTIC, and in order to mitigate pollution plastic, a consortium of companies has been created that comprehensively collects the different agents participating in the value chain, in order to obtain innovative recycling techniques. On the one hand, BIRZIPLASTIC, as the leader of the project and dedicated to managing post-industrial plastic waste and market them in the form of recycled technical composites, is in charge of collect plastic waste for its separation and revaluation and KAYTEK DIGITAL BUSINESS, for its part, as a company specializing in the integration of IoT and Blockchain technology, provides a software platform (Kaytek Platform) specific for the digitization of industrial processes that facilitates traceability of the data from its arrival to the subsequent phases of the process of revaluation. Finally, SARENET participates as a company specialized in IoT infrastructure managed and secured for communications and accommodation oriented to industrial SMEs, and is responsible for sustaining the entire platform in your cloud. In addition, the project contemplates the collaboration of other members of the Red Vasca de Ciencia y Tecnología, such as MIK S. Coop. as a center technology in business management specialized in Circular Economy and Business Data Analytics for the development of new businesses and ACLIMA (Association Cluster of Environmental Industries of the Basque Country) as a reference and agglutinating of the Euskadi Eco-industry and environmental services and products, which represents waste value chains. The FOOTPLASTIC solution will be able to automatically identify leaks of plastic throughout the value chain thanks to IoT technology, making monitoring work in real time and characterizing the leaks in each chain stage.
