SARENET, AWARDED FOR A NETWORK TRANSFORMATION AND CYBERSECURITY PROJECT DEVELOPED FOR THE UVESCO GROUP

'-The specialized magazine Byte recognizes Sarenet during the awards ceremony for the best IT products and solutions of the year 2021 -One of its main objectives was to improve the level of protection in supermarkets by enabling safe channels of access to their computer networks for maintenance companies and to automate the isolation of equipment in case of infection to prevent propagation. Zamudio - October 26, 2021 - Sarenet (https://www.sarenet.es), the voice and data operator and hosting services, specialized in companies, has been awarded by the specialized magazine Byte in the category "Best network transformation project ”for the solution developed to adapt the network infrastructure and cybersecurity for the Uvesco Group (https://www.uvesco.es). To respond to new customer demands, the project contemplated the implementation of a secure architecture that would improve the traceability of orders and the home delivery service, in addition to facilitating integration with IoT (Internet of things) systems. Uvesco is a leading group in the mass consumption and food distribution sector that is in the process of expansion nationwide. Headquartered in lrún (Gipuzkoa), it has 4 logistics platforms, 250 supermarkets (BM and Super Amara), and a total of more than 5,500 workers. The solution implemented had to be very flexible so that it would adapt to the conditions and typology of the Uvesco group: the large volume of the company, the geographical dispersion and a very heterogeneous computer system in which PCs and machines coexist (POS, scales, alarms ….). In this environment with such disparate teams, Uvesco challenged Sarenet to implement a solution to protect itself against possible lateral movements in the event of infection of any of its machines, equipment or devices. It was, in short, a very personalized project that required good planning.
Sarenet's proposal Sarenet opted for a solution that would guarantee that the environments of all supermarkets were safe from possible risks and vulnerabilities, segmenting the network with security elements made up of firewalls and switches capable of communicating with each other. It was important that it had, at the same time, mechanisms automatic both to detect possible problems and to act instantly protecting equipment, machines and devices. The company defined all the hardware and software that were necessary for this project, relying on the manufacturer Fortinet under its "Security Driven Networking" approach, which provides the greatest innovation seen to date in terms of protection applied to access. The solution checks traffic security, detects malware, investigates security incidents and, most importantly, automatically quarantines any computer or machine in case of infection or attack, all with a very simple management of the network of the company. Technically, the project has included more than 700 pieces of equipment, all previously configured by Sarenet to reduce installation times in supermarkets as much as possible. At the same time, the network was defined and ordered which elements should communicate with each other in each segment. SARENET S.A.U.
