Ribbon Communications partners with LogiSense to help Service Providers combat threats from Over-The-Top alternatives

Ribbon Communications to integrate LogiSense's EngageIP monetization platform with its Kandy platform to enable service providers with a turnkey B2B2X Communications Platform as a Service Offering to launch new services with improved pricing and customer care tools for enterprise customers.

June 5, 2018 - LogiSense, a global usage and subscription based billing solution provider, announced today that Ribbon Communications Inc. (Nasdaq: RBBN), a global leader in secure and intelligent cloud communications, has selected LogiSense to enhance its Service Provider solution portfolio by integrating white label billing and monetization capability into the Kandy Communications Platform as a Service (CPaaS). As noted in this article from McKinsey & Company, just a few years ago, messaging, fixed voice, and mobile voice services from OTT players accounted for 9, 11, and 2 percent of relevant revenue, respectively In the most aggressive scenario, the share of messaging, fixed voice, and mobile voice provided by OTT players could be at 60, 50, and 25 percent, respectively, by 2018 in an all-IP environment. According to Ovum, this will likely result in a drop in spending on traditional communication services by 36 percent over the next ten years, further pushing incumbent telcos to the margins of voice and data provision. Residential and business users expect their carriers to provide the same level of flexibility and functionality they currently obtain from over-the-top (OTT) applications. Ribbon's Kandy Platform Solutions allow Communication Service Providers (CSP) to extend the reach of their communications services into any device, on any network, and swiftly add real-time communications into any application.
As service providers look to open up the telco layer to 3rd parties via APIs, there will need to be a corresponding change in the way in which service providers price and bundle their offerings. API powered telecommunications services will require complex B2X and B2B2X business models that are consumption-based and tied to volume-based discounting to enable personalized pricing models that existing CSP billing systems just can't handle.
