New York – July 2, 2019 – Leading trademark lawyer Jeffrey Greene has joined Cooley in New York as a partner in the litigation department. He arrives from Fenwick & West. “Jeff is one of the most highly regarded trademark lawyers in New York,” said Nick Bolter, chair of Cooley's global trademark, copyright and advertising group. “He adds his significant experience and leadership to our premier trademark team.” Greene’s practice focuses on foreign and domestic brand counseling and protection, including the development and management of global trademark portfolios, licensing of brand assets and advertising, and brand enforcement strategies. He advises on the trademark and intellectual property elements of mergers, acquisitions and other transactions, as well as agreement and contract drafting, licensing and negotiation and transfer issues. Greene has a deep background in guiding startups and established companies across a wide range of industries. “Cooley’s reputation as a trademark powerhouse, together with its powerful culture and collaborative approach to client service, provides a wonderful opportunity for my practice,” Greene said. “I’m eager to hit the ground running and contribute to the firm’s further success.” Greene is frequently ranked as a top trademark lawyer and is repeatedly recognized by World Trademark Review, Managing Intellectual Property and The Legal 500 for his work. He graduated from Cornell University and earned his JD from the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law at Yeshiva University. Prior to Fenwick, he worked at Foley & Lardner for more than a decade, serving as head of its trademark group and, ultimately, as vice chair of its intellectual property department. As an active member of the International Trademark Association, Greene serves on the US Roundtables Project Team and the Leadership Development Committee. In the past, he has served on the US Programs Committee for the 2008 and 2010 INTA annual meetings, the Alternative Dispute Resolution Committee and has co-chaired the Leadership Labs Subcommittee. He has also served on the Bar of the City of New York’s Trademarks and Unfair Competition Committee.
