GlobalView's real-time reporting on roaming subscribers helps drive efficiency and quality for mobile operators HKT (SEHK: 6823) – HONG KONG, May 30, 2016 PCCW Global, the international operating division of HKT, Hong Kong's premier telecommunications service provider, has won the Consumer Service Innovation Award in the 2016 Global Telecoms Business Innovation Awards. The Awards scheme began in 2007 and is organized by Global Telecoms Business, an online magazine aimed at the senior managers who lead telecom carriers all over the world. The Awards recognizes and rewards successful collaborative projects between operators and vendors. PCCW Global designed and developed GlobalView for CSL, Hong Kong's largest mobile operator, and other mobile operators, as a real-time portal to monitor the quality and efficiency of services experienced by end-users while roaming on other mobile network. Currently, once a customer moves off the home network, the operator has little insight regarding its customers' experience, and relies only on a visited network's monitoring capability. GlobalView monitors customers' roaming usage in real-time, thus enabling home network operators to provide better customer support and tailor services based on their customers' unique personal usage patterns and experiences. The project started in early 2015 and the first version of GlobalView was launched following comprehensive initial development. New features soon followed, providing a 360-degree insight into data roaming. The project has required an international collaboration among teams located in Europe, Asia, and the Americas. Roaming protocols generate significant volumes of valuable information for operators regarding their subscribers and roaming partners. But traditional reporting capabilities have not yet delivered the level of detail and individualized reporting required by operators today. The vast data sources and complexity of information have only recently become accessible via the use of "big data analytics", the technology and methodology which drives the GlobalView engine. Ms. Ronnie Klingner, PCCW Global's President of Mobility, Security and Digital Solutions, said, "We are delighted that our efforts and innovation have been recognized. To receive such high-profile recognition for GlobalView is testimony to excellent teamwork between PCCW Global and CSL. We are now able to offer MNOs the opportunity to look at international roaming transactions from a business awareness perspective, which delivers added value because operators are now able to ensure that service connectivity with their roaming counterparts is maintained, and they can also be confident that their customers are receiving excellent service while roaming away from their home network." The GlobalView inter-operator traffic analytics solution is today focused on roaming, but the service as developed also offers further scope for enabling the integration of network data analytics in order to also pinpoint fraudulent uses of the MNOs' services.
