HKT (SEHK: 6823) – HONG KONG, November 19, 2015 – PCCW Global, the international operating division of HKT, Hong Kong’s leading premier telecommunications service provider, successfully demonstrated the new automated flexible bandwidth and compute services that will be rolled out commercially across the PCCW Global network starting in 2016 at the GEN15 in Dallas, USA. Supported by the latest software-defined networking (SDN) and best in class service orchestration technologies, the real-time demonstration illustrated a suite of online self-service tools that will provide PCCW Global’s customers with significantly shorter lead time for delivery of service and increased agility in on-demand modifications to existing bandwidth, class-of-service and compute-resource services. Delivered via a self-service customer portal, the new capabilities will include online quotation and ordering, automated provisioning, and lifecycle service management. The service on-demand requirements will also include various methods of measuring and charging for the different service types. These charge plans can be combinations of existing methods used for variable and fixed services, or new dynamic on-demand billing. In early 2016 the extension of service orchestration across multiple providers through API’s will allow PCCW Global to open up on-net service automation to their network partners as well as third party public and private cloud providers. Mr. Bret Rehart, Chief Network and Information Officer of PCCW Global, said, “Removing unnecessary complexity and offering simple self-service ordering and provisioning of global bandwidth and compute services will allow our enterprise customers and carrier partners to provision secure, reliable, QoS-based services in minutes rather than weeks.” Reaching more than 3,000 cities in 140 countries, PCCW Global’s extensive network supports Quality-of-Service features across a portfolio of integrated global communications solutions based on the latest Ethernet, IP, fiber and satellite transmission technologies.
