Palo Alto – June 23, 2016 – The National Law Journal named Cooley to its Intellectual Property Hot List for the fourth time in five years. The list recognizes only "15 law firms that set the bar in intellectual property law in 2015, scoring big wins for clients." NLJ highlights Cooley's win for long-time client Qualcomm in a patent case filed by ParkerVision, in which we scored a rare reversal of a $173 million jury verdict. Cooley was also commended for persuading the US Supreme Court to toss out an adverse Federal Circuit decision against client Gevo, a biofuels pioneer, in a long-running patent dispute against Butamax. Cooley partner Tim Teter was noted by NLJ for his work on behalf of Qualcomm at the US Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit and the publication also quoted Cooley partner Michelle Rhyu, who represented Gevo, observing that the firm is well positioned for future growth and success with "a vibrant and exciting" next generation of trial lawyers.
