Barcelona - March 11, 2021 -
Adamo will bring high-speed Internet to more than 114,000 homes in rural areas and residential urban areas of Catalonia before the end of 2022. The telecommunications company will activate this connection to provide the fastest fiber optic available today in the market (1,000 Mbps) to numerous towns and cities in this territory.
Deployment in Tarragona, Girona and Lleida Specifically, the operator will install its own network in 114,241 Catalan homes over the next two years with the following breakdown: 50,912 homes in Tarragona, 37,043 in Girona and 26,286 in Lleida.
PEBA aid for Catalonia: 6.4 million This growth will be supported, on the one hand, by the investments that Adamo will make. On the other, the expansion will be possible thanks to grants from
the New Generation Broadband Program (PEBA) of the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Digital Transformation, which is co-financed by the European Union (EU). Altogether, Adamo is awarded 72 million euros to deploy fiber optics in 19 provinces. Of this budget, 6.4 million will be allocated to the installation in Catalonia of this key infrastructure to facilitate, thus, the communication of the aforementioned more than 114,000 homes.
The coronavirus does not stop the expansion of Adamo Regarding the deployment of the operator, it should be noted that its growth rate is hardly influenced by the emergence of COVID-19: Adamo brings fiber optics to 25,000 new homes per month in Spain despite the coronavirus.
Adamo Fiber Optic Advantages The current times - marked by the coronavirus - require telecommunications operators to be able to satisfy the enormous demand that exists for a quality Internet connection. For this, as already mentioned, Adamo offers the fastest fiber optic on the market (1,000 Mbps), which translates into being able to telecommute with a stable connection, maintain videoconferences without interruptions, and be closer to family and friends who live far away. , have the possibility of accessing education remotely, buying through the Internet, watching series or enjoying
online video games
, among other options.
The same opportunities for rural areas The telecommunications company continues to support connectivity in rural areas. In this sense, Adamo's commitment is clear: to bring fiber optics to every corner, also to historically forgotten environments. Hence, the company has become the reference operator in rural Catalonia, offering service in towns and areas where others do not reach.
An expansion plan worth 250 million This is possible thanks to an ambitious expansion plan that reaches 250 million euros, the results of which are the already 10,000 kilometers of Adamo's own network and having the necessary technology to connect the rural world, thanks to which Adamo already offers service in 600 municipalities statewide.
Adamo collaborates in establishing population in rural areas In this way, the operator supports the development and stabilization of the rural population, thus favoring the competitiveness of those areas that have been losing inhabitants and turning them into an attractive option to live. At this juncture it is essential not to leave anyone behind. Both those who already reside in villages, towns and small cities and those who, due to circumstances, choose to move to a smaller municipality.
Adamo Fiberhood With the precise objective of providing high-speed fiber optics to the most remote areas, the company has an innovative tool:
Adamo Fiberhood . It is a system by which, only with the joint request of 30 neighbors through a simple website, it is enough for the company to deploy fiber optics in their municipality. In this way, Fiberhood is positioned as one of the key instruments that allows Adamo to reach places that other operators cannot, with each town having its own group.
ABOUT ADAMO: Adamo, based in Barcelona, is an operator with a national vocation, but with a regional and local business focus. Present in the Spanish market since 2007, the company gives priority to rural areas and new urban areas with a high population density, providing the fastest optical fiber on the market (1,000 Mbps). EQT Partners, Adamo's investment fund and majority shareholder, supports its current expansion plan, boosted at the beginning of 2020 with 250 million euros. Likewise, Adamo is the main awardee of the New Generation Broadband Program (PEBA-NGA 2020-2022), funded by the State and the EU, having received72 million in grants to bring high-speed Internet to 470,000 homes located in rural areas of 19 provinces.
