Major forum to help hospitals learn how to implement successful telehealth programs

JACKSON, Miss., Sept. 7, 2016 --
WHAT: News media representatives are invited to attend a summit on Thursday, Sept. 8 in Jackson to help hospitals and doctors learn how to develop successful telehealth programs.  C Spire, a Mississippi-based diversified telecommunications and technology services company, is convening the forum in partnership with several major health care industry and advocacy groups to advance the cause of telehealth, which can help save lives, improve the quality of healthcare and reduce medical costs.  Some of the nation's leading experts on telehealth and telemedicine will be speaking and presenting at the event. The program includes welcome and keynote addresses by C Spire President and CEO Hu Meena, Dr. Jay Sanders, the founding president of the American Telemedicine Association and CEO of The Global Telemedicine Group, along with a dual luncheon keynote presentation by Dr. Michael Edgeworth, medical director for Cigna Health Spring and Ed Spencer, director of the South Carolina Department of Mental Health's Telepsychiatry program.
Panel discussions featuring subject matter experts on remote patient monitoring, specialty services, reimbursement and USAC funding and grants also will be part of the program.
