November 10, 2023 - John Broadbent, an associate in Brownstein Hyatt Farber Schreck’s Corporate & Business Department, has been appointed to the Outdoor Access Subcommittee of Colorado’s Task Force on the Rights of Coloradans with Disabilities by Gov. Jared Polis. Created by a recently enacted state law, the subcommittee’s purpose is to identify barriers to basic access to and the enjoyment of the Colorado outdoors for individuals with disabilities and to make recommendations for addressing those barriers.
Broadbent believes his lived experience, having overcome physical disabilities largely by being in the outdoors, will bring valuable perspective on how individuals with disabilities access the outdoors. He is tasked with representing outdoor recreation users, adaptive outdoor recreations programs, adaptive trails, veterans service organizations serving veterans with disabilities and disability rights advocacy organizations.
“The Outdoor Access Subcommittee represents a tremendous opportunity for the great state of Colorado to assume a leading role across states in ensuring access to the great outdoors for all residents and visitors. For this reason, I am honored and excited to represent those for whom experiencing the wonders of nature may be more challenging,” he said.
