by Doug Green, Editor & Publisher at Telecom Reseller Open office. Huddle room. Remember all that? Now comes a tectonic shift in the way many people work and live. Industry experts call it hybrid working, but the shift includes work and life outside work. For many people, a new lifestyle is emerging that involves working from home, working from an office (that more resembles a purpose-built blank canvas) and working in other spaces where coffee is being served or the seat you occupy is in a moving vehicle. Welcome to Work From Anywhere, WFA all day. As with other social and economic earthquakes, the bits and pieces of the new shape of things to come, arrived before we knew what the whole picture would be. As with other upheavals, new products mark the milestone. The Jabra Evolve2 75 marks the beginning of the new hybrid working standard, where we WFA all day. WFA all day means that the product must be comfortable enough to be worn all day and somehow accommodate the changing needs of a user throughout the day while fulfilling the needs that have been historically delivered by various separate end points. The movable hide-away boom arm is an interesting way to see how Jabra Evolve2 75 is something different. Basically, the discreet boom allows a user to go into work, meeting or phone call mode. The user can then decide to pivot back to playing music, podcasts or simply using the sophisticated noise cancellation system to create a quiet space drowning out the sound of a subway or a lawn mower. The product is designed this way anticipating that the user will be wearing it at a home office, in a commuter train, at a coffee house, in a Teams or Zoom meeting or taking a call while “hoteling” in some open office space. Meanwhile, noise management works in both directions. The thinking behind both the architecture of the moving boom and its advanced microphone configuration reflects Jabra’s thinking about company presentation in the hybrid WFA era: professionalism. Hybrid working has made our cats, dogs and kids the stars of the show. However, the issues of the open office have not gone away even if the open office is now a sort of a resource center with available desks to grab with a conference room. Jabra is thinking that a professional presentation is still important and still possible. The anxious customer, the serious business partner, the somber client and many other business meetings and calls are not really enhanced by distractions. Evolve2 75 works to decrease the distractions with innovations such as a hideaway boom.  The boom is packed with 8-microphone technology. When in Performance Mode, with the boom arm down, Evolve2 75 eliminates background sounds in open workspaces meeting Microsoft’s Open Office requirements. The microphones are managed by a triple chipset-powered Jabra algorithm that filters out noise. Jabra adds Advanced Active Noise Cancellation™(ANC) to a professional headset for the first time. Creature Comforts: Sound and Feel Wear all day technology means that that not only is there a combination of noise cancelation and excellent listening, with the Jabra Sound+ app, the unit must be comfortable. Jabra offers dual-foam technology which further isolates noise and makes the unit all-day wearable. The new leatherette design eliminates the hot-ear problem and reduces pressure on the sensitive inner ear canal. Inside the comfortable space, the user enjoys 40mm speakers and AAC codec for an immersive experience. If you’re a movie fan you might hear things in your favorite movie you didn’t know were there. Connectivity The Jabra Evolve2 75 is all business even as it reflects the new blurred line between work and home.  It offers dual Bluetooth connectivity allowing the user to connect two Bluetooth enabled devices at the same time including mobile device and computer. Up to 8 devices can be paired. Jabra Evolve2 75 offers a thirty-meter range. Users won’t need to always keep their phone in their pockets or stay within a foot or two of their laptops. The unit offers a 36-hour battery which is more than enough to cover even heavy all day use for talking and music. The unit includes a charging stand that, in keeping with our more itinerant work and play lifestyle, has a small footprint, and can charge the unit in 15 minutes for 6 hours of play and fully charge in under three hours. Clearly the Jabra Evolve2 75 is designed for heavy all-day use. Teams, Zoom, Avaya, Cisco, Mitel, NEC and a lot more, like many Jabra products, the Evolve2 75 is built from the ground up to work with the widest number of platforms possible, all in a seamless, plug and play mode, and has the official certifications to show. The unit comes with a 360° busylight on both earcups and is visible from all angles acting as a do-not-disturb sign. As noted, the Evolve2 75 has been designed to eliminate noise from non-meeting friendly environments so that disruptive noise won’t affect a person in a Zoom or Teams meeting. Evolve2 75 is available in in black or beige and in UC or MS variants. Before the pandemic and before we knew to call it a hybrid, economic, social, and technological trends had been knocking on the door of something new. It had begun to occur to many people that driving a half ton pickup across town to sit in an office where the same email is being sent that could be sent from anywhere, might not be the best use of time and resources. The Evolve2 75 signals the formal opening of a new era where the way we work and live will change for a very big part of the workforce. Significantly, Jabra also produces products for the many workers who must do their tasks onsite, from manufacturing, education, healthcare, hospitality and so on. For the information worker something new has developed. We can anticipate that people will still want to collaborate on certain days, in person, and maybe grab a quiet corner somewhere on on other days. On still other days, it might be work from home or anywhere. WFA all day has arrived. The Jabra Evolve2 75 is among the first devices custom built for the new hybrid work era.
