London, United Kingdom - September 22, 2023 - Gamma Communications plc ("Gamma"), a leading provider of communications solutions in Europe, today announced that the current CEO of the Benelux, Gerben Wijbenga, will expand his responsibilities to the Central and Northern Europe region to bring his experience of growth to the DACH region.
This development follows the decision of Achim Hager, founder of HFO and a major player in the German telecom market, to retire. Founded in 1997 and under Achim's leadership, HFO grew to become one of the leading SIP companies in Germany, with both traditional voice solutions followed by new IP-based solutions. His decision not to renew his contract in 2024 marks the end of an era marked by 25 years of dedication, innovation and building a community in the DACH region.
Gerben Wijbenga, who started as CEO for the Benelux in 2020, has an extensive background in telecom of more than 20 years in France, Germany and the Benelux. With previous positions at renowned companies such as KPN, Telefónica Deutschland and Tele2, his considerable experience in achieving growth in these regions makes him perfect to lead Gamma's ambitious expansion in Central and Northern Europe.
Gerben Wijbenga, CEO of Gamma Central and Northern Europe, says: "Our German organization has been built on lasting and strong relationships for quite some time, by my esteemed colleague Achim Hager and his team. I will ensure that these relationships are maintained and grown, together with the strong team of Gamma Germany, so that together we and our partners take advantage of the growth opportunities in the DACH region."
Achim Hager, outgoing CEO Germany, said: "I will be available to Gerben Wijbenga and the German team during this transition and will help in every way possible to build on all the great initiatives we have built. I will continue to be co-owner and shareholder of Gamma for many years to come and will be happy to help ensure that we remain as successful as we have been for the past 25 years."
Gamma is grateful for Achim's many years of service and looks forward to the road ahead under Gerben's leadership.
