Enghouse’s enhanced Diameter Firewall shields LTE networks from malicious diameter attacks

Markham, Ontario – (March 6 th, 2018) Enghouse is pleased to announce the new release of their Diameter Signalling Controller to better secure next-generation networks and subscribers’ against denial of service (DoS) and fraud attacks. As LTE networks become increasingly interconnected and 4G data roaming becomes a reality, there is a need for more robust, secure and scalable Diameter Signaling solutions. This latest release includes an enhanced Diameter Firewall that provides greater protection of signaling interconnections with roaming partners and LTE roaming exchanges. Flavio Muscetra, Product Manager, Diameter Signaling solutions states, “The signaling threats to mobile networks and subscribers evolve daily and operators need the most effective tools to protect their networks and subscribers. Diameter Firewall equips mobile operators with specialized tools, which, paired with a strong security policy, provide a robust defense against denial of service (DoS) and fraud. The Diameter Firewall also detects anomalous traffic fluctuations on the signaling interconnection links and alerts the operator’s network operations centre (NOC).” This enhanced version includes a set of preloaded, out-of-the-box security filters helping to identify and block potential attacks, recording the source and targets of each attack. These preloaded security filters are countermeasures designed to protect LTE networks and subscribers’ privacy against potential attacks based on Diameter as described in the GSMA FS.19 document. The Enghouse SS7 Firewall and Diameter Firewall, together, constitute a full Signaling Firewall that enables operators to shield their various network signaling technologies from invasion of privacy and malicious attacks. The Diameter Firewall is available now and can be deployed as a VNF compatible with Openstack NFV platforms. Read our latest blog on this subject by Flavio Muscetra  here.
