Washington, DC – September 1, 2015 – Washington, DC-based partner and chair of Cooley's diversity committee, DeAnna Allen, was named a "
Woman Worth Watching" by Diversity Journal. According to the publication, the honorees are "nominated by their employers for their passion, their potential, and their positive influence both inside and outside the workplace, the winners represent corporations, government agencies, and nonprofits from across North America and Europe." Allen is a partner in Cooley's litigation department, and member of the intellectual property litigation and patent counseling & prosecution practice groups. Her practice involves various aspects of intellectual property, including patent litigation and counseling, as well as trademark litigation, copyright litigation, and computer technology. In addition to litigating and counseling on cases involving patents directed to inventions in a variety of technologies, Allen is an active member of the Cooley community. In an interview with Diversity Journal, Allen shared her words to live by: "Who I am defines what I do, not the other way around." As chair of Cooley's firmwide diversity committee, Allen leads Cooley's efforts to promote communication and understanding with the organization and with our clients and communities. In 2015, she was selected as the firm's Leadership Council on Legal Diversity (LCLD) diversity fellow, in which she participates in a year-long program created to identify, train, and advance the next generation of diverse leaders in the legal profession. Allen is also a board member of the National Association of Women Lawyers ("NAWL") and co-chairs the Programs sub-committee to the ABA Section of Litigation Intellectual Property Committee.
