CCA files comments with the FCC on behalf of hosting telecom providers

As the preeminent voice of the cloud communications industry, the CCA has filed comments in response to the FCC’s proposals to mandate implementation of the SHAKEN/STIR call authentication framework and establish safe harbors for blocking calls using the framework.

Although this framework can become an important tool to combat “robocalls,” the CCA urged the FCC to ensure that competitive VoIP providers are not disadvantaged as the framework is rolled out.

In particular, CCA cautioned against blocking calls that may not fully comply with the framework until it is fully implemented and VoIP providers such as CCA’s members have a fair opportunity to participate in the framework and have reasonable means available to reverse the inadvertent blocking of legitimate calls.
