Overview Johnston County sits in the eastern half of central North Carolina, U.S.A. The Johnston County School system is made up of 44 schools and a handful of administration buildings. For years, the school system dealt with 50 different phone systems in a multitude of buildings across the county. These legacy Private Branch Exchange (PBX) systems could not communicate with one another and required significant upkeep. A VoIP phone installation was direly needed. Carolina Digital won the bid and the contract for a new 4,500-phone system. Carolina Digital selected Yealink’s T23G, T42G and T46G IP phones, which perfectly meet the school’s needs to work with Third Lane Technologies’ platform to give Yealink phones expanded functionality beyond that of other competitors. The Johnston County School successfully changed over to the new phone system and its users now enjoy the convenience and benefits brought by the VoIP revolution.
The Solution When Nicky Smith, Chief Executive Officer of Carolina Digital, was asked to explain the winning bid for the transition project, the answer was succinct: “Quality, price and service.” By combining Yealink phones with Third Lane Technologies’ VoIP platform, Carolina Digital’s solution offered multiple advantages:
With the new VoIP phone system, saved time multiplied across the county, adding up to a tremendous savings in time and resources.
The Third Lane Technologies’ system allows for customization and unique features. For example, the system automatically notifies key employees when 911 is called from anywhere within the countywide system.
The school system eliminated the cost of hundreds of phone lines and completely divested itself of the phone systems.
