Call Authentication comments filed by the Cloud Communications Alliance with the FCC

The CCA continued to advocate on behalf of its members for reasonable regulations to curb illegal robocalls by filing comprehensive comments in response to the FCC’s latest set of proposed rules.  Among other proposals, the CCA recommended requiring all providers in the call chain to file robocall mitigation plans in the robocall mitigation database and that providers operating legacy, TDM networks should adopt alternative, commercially available caller ID verification solutions since STIR/SHAKEN does not work on their networks. To ensure an appropriate balance, the CCA urged the FCC to refrain from imposing onerous restrictions on the use of U.S.  numbers by foreign providers or other provisions that would hamper the ability of competitive providers without materially reducing illegal robocalls.
