Brownstein Recognized with 2021 Innovation Award from Colorado Women’s Chamber of Commerce

January 15, 2021 - Brownstein Hyatt Farber Schreck is pleased to announce that it was recognized with the 2021 Innovation Award from the Colorado Women’s Chamber of Commerce (CWCC). The CWCC honored Brownstein at its annual Champions of Change Awards event, which recognizes organizations that are actively and strategically advancing women in business through their commitment to creating inclusive, supportive and empowering cultures. Brownstein received the Innovation Award for its creative solutions and practices that develop employees, support their needs and advance women in business. “We are honored to be recognized with the CWCC’s Innovation Award,” said Ali Metzl, the firm’s chair of diversity, inclusion and equity and co-founder and chair of Brownstein’s Women’s Leadership Initiative. “Brownstein is committed to creating and implementing innovative programs to support and advance our women attorneys and professionals.” Brownstein continues to make great strides with a variety of career-advancement initiatives. The firm’s “Transitions Matter” suite of programs, which was introduced in 2018 and modified in 2019, includes a ramp-up/ramp-down reduced hours policy surrounding extended leave, an alternative work schedule policy as well as Mindful Return and Milk Stork programs. In 2019, the firm greatly enhanced its gender-neutral paid medical and parental leave for childbirth and adoption, introduced subsidized backup child, pet and elder care and additional family support benefits, and launched a working parents’ network to educate and share vital resources amongst parenting attorneys and foster a more cohesive support network. Additionally, in 2019, the firm formalized and enhanced its flex commute and tech stipend policies to institutionalize and support remote working and flexible hours arrangements. Its Daunting to Doable business development program focuses on expanding Brownstein’s group of female rainmakers. More recently, in the wake of COVID-19, the firm introduced innovative programing including remote business development and professional development seminars as well as Brownstein Buddies, a program created to support the firm’s working parents and foster engagement and connectivity among employees’ children during these challenging times. In addition to the CWCC honor, Brownstein has recently been recognized for its gender diversity efforts, including achieving Mansfield Rule Certification from the Diversity Lab for the third consecutive year, ranking second on  Law 360’s 2020 Ceiling Smashers list for law firms (251-600 attorneys) with the highest representation of women in their equity partnerships, ranking sixth on T he American Lawyer’s 2020 list of firms with the highest percentage of female equity partners and being named as one of  Working Mother’s “Best Law Firms for Women” for the second consecutive year. Brownstein was recognized at the CWCC’s virtual event on Jan. 14.
