Brownstein Names Doug Landin Chief Information Security Officer

March 14, 2019 - Brownstein Hyatt Farber Schreck is pleased to announce that  Doug Landin has been named chief information security officer and will oversee the firm’s newly formalized security team. Landin’s appointment is effective as of March 1. Landin joined the firm in 2017 and was charged with expanding the firm’s information security program and establishing a security team. The firm also formed a risk management committee that provides executive decision-making and support for the evolving balance between operational and security needs. Landin together with the risk management committee will oversee the firm’s work to gain ISO 27000 certification. Prior to joining the firm, Landin spent the majority of his career working for the State of Colorado in various roles within IT and information security, including an interim assignment as the state’s information security officer, the state’s liaison with the FBI and as health information technology director for the entire state. “Doug’s elevation to chief information security officer underscores the firm’s commitment to security for our clients and employees,” said  Rich Benenson, a member of the firm’s Executive Committee and managing partner-elect. “As the private and public sectors continue to see an increase in information security threats, Doug’s depth of experience and technical prowess is critically important to safeguarding our firm.” Landin received his B.A. from Fort Lewis College and has held SAN - IT Management Essentials, SAN – CISSP, SAN - Computer Forensics, Investigation and Response, SAN - Information Technology Incident Response, SAN - Information Technology Network Essentials, ITILv3 - Foundations Certification and HIPAA - Certified HIPAA Professional CHP certifications.
