December 17, 2019 - Brownstein Hyatt Farber Schreck is pleased to announce the firm has committed to participate in the American Bar Association’s (ABA) Well-Being Pledge Campaign.  Recent studies have documented that lawyers struggle with substance abuse and mental health issues at levels substantially above both the general population and other highly educated professionals, and the campaign is designed to encourage firms to adopt policies and programs to address the problem. “We are proud to commit to the ABA Well-Being Pledge Campaign,” said Rich Benenson, managing partner at Brownstein. “The ABA’s campaign is an important step to raise awareness about attorney mental health and encourage firms to provide resources and programs in support of whole-health. We already have implemented the pledge’s seven-point framework to help all personnel thrive in in their personal and professional lives.” The primary vehicle for the campaign is a pledge calling upon legal employers to first: (a) recognize that substance use and mental health problems represent a significant challenge for the legal profession and acknowledge that more can and should be done to improve the health and well-being of lawyers; and, (b) pledge to support the campaign and work to adopt and prioritize its  seven-point framework for building a better future.
