Brownstein Achieves Mansfield Certification; Signs on for Mansfield 3.0

September 3, 2019 - Brownstein Hyatt Farber Schreck is pleased to announce that for the second consecutive year it has achieved Mansfield Certification from the Diversity Lab, which recognizes the firm’s commitment to leading the charge toward greater diversity and inclusion in the legal industry. Brownstein achieved the inaugural version of Mansfield Rule Certification in  2018, which measured whether women and attorneys of color represented at least 30% of the candidate pools for law firm leadership and governance roles, partner promotions and senior lateral positions. The firm is proud to have also achieved Mansfield Rule Certification in 2019, which included LGBTQ+ lawyers in addition to women and attorneys of color, tracked formal pitch opportunities and required enhanced transparency in firm nomination and election processes. “We are so delighted to be able to recognize Brownstein with Mansfield Certification for the second year,” said  Lisa Kirby, chief intelligence & knowledge sharing officer at Diversity Lab. “This year, we raised the bar and asked firms to expand their implementation of the Mansfield Rule, including adding LGBTQ+ lawyers to their candidate pools, and tracking formal pitch opportunities. Brownstein rose to the challenge and completed another successful year. We look forward to continuing to partner with the firm on Mansfield 3.0.” “Brownstein is honored to receive Mansfield Certification for the second consecutive year,” said Managing Partner  Rich Benenson. “I’m proud of our efforts, which were led by the firm’s Women’s Leadership Initiative and Committee on Diversity, Inclusion & Equity. Looking ahead, Brownstein will continue to strive to be innovative in our approach to diversity and inclusion initiatives firmwide and within our communities.” Furthering its commitment to diversity, the firm has signed on to participate in the Mansfield Rule 3.0 in 2020, which includes attorneys with disabilities in addition to women, attorneys of color and LGBTQ+ lawyers. The firm has also recently been recognized for its gender diversity efforts, ranking fifth on  The American Lawyer’s list of firms with the highest percentage of female equity partners and being named as one of  Working Mother’s 2019 “Best Law Firms for Women.”
