Broadview Networks Acquires the Unified Messaging Assets of Common Voices, Inc.

Acquisition Augments Its OfficeSuite® Cloud-based Unified Communications Proprietary Technology Portfolio

RYE BROOK, NY— Broadview Networks, a leading provider of cloud-based business communication services, announced that it has acquired select unified communications assets and hired the development team from developer Common Voices, Inc. of Somerville, MA. These assets add to Broadview Networks’ proprietary and award-winning OfficeSuite® platform, providing further differentiation opportunities for the product and expanding Broadview’s expertise in software development. With the accelerating demand of “always on” and mobile communications, this investment allows Broadview Networks to meet new communications trends head-on by rapidly developing industry-proven platforms. These platforms will ultimately help companies ensure reliable and efficient communications with their own clients. Broadview Networks now owns and controls the intellectual property, including the source code, for NowMessage, Common Voices’ premier unified communications application. Previously, this intellectual property was held under a license agreement. NowMessage is one of the enabling technologies behind Broadview Networks’ award-winning cloud-based phone solution, OfficeSuite®. In addition, Broadview Networks acquired the assets associated with Common Voices’ NowConnect Automated Attendant technology and a license to use and modify Common Voices’ unique NowThere voicemail platform migration software. “Our customers are increasingly communicating with their clients through a wide variety of devices, including smartphones, tablets, laptops and other devices inside and outside of traditional office environments,” said Brian Crotty, Chief Operating Officer for Broadview Networks. “With OfficeSuite, we have over 100,000 business professionals enjoying the benefits of unified communications today and we expect that we can continue to help customers remain connected.” Broadview Networks is acquiring Common Voices’ existing customer contracts, software, including source and development code, trade names and the related intellectual property held by Common Voices. Broadview has also hired Common Voices employees responsible for the development and support of these platforms. “Common Voices proved to us years ago that their approach to unified messaging is leading-edge, well-designed and highly flexible,” said Ken Shulman, Chief Technology Officer and Chief Information Officer for Broadview Networks. “With this acquisition, we are growing our proprietary intellectual property in unified communications. We can take full advantage of our software development expertise and integration skills to innovate and bring more differentiated products to our unique OfficeSuite service portfolio.” Specific terms of the transaction were not disclosed. The transaction closed March 28, 2013. More at www.broadviewnet.com
