Adamo installs fiber optics above 1,200 meters in the Catalan Pyrenees

Alp, October 1, 2021Optical fiber in the Catalan Pyrenees,at more than 1,200 meters of altitude. It is one of the latest milestones achieved by  Adamo, with the technical difficulty that this implies. Specifically, the company has already installed its network in Urús (located at 1,263 meters above sea level) and will do the same in Das (which is 1,219 meters) before the end of this year.

Connection for more than 3,000 homes

The investment and human effort made by Adamo with the help of its partner in the area, Einesa Cable, will mean that more than 3,000 homes in the aforementioned municipalities of Girona have a quality Internet connection. In a disaggregated way, there will be about 1,400 homes in Alp, more than 1,000 in Fontanals de Cerdanya, 365 in Das and 310 in Urús. It should be noted that these are four sparsely populated towns of La Cerdanya, since only the first of them exceeds 1,500 inhabitants, the other three, in this order, in 455, 227 and 178 neighbors.

Adamo will add more than 37,000 homes in Girona

This deployment in the Catalan Pyrenees is part of the development of the company's own network in the provinces of Tarragona, Girona and Lleida. In this sense, it should be remembered that more than 114,000 homes in Catalonia will have high-speed Internet installed by Adamo between 2021 and 2022. In a disaggregated way, the operator will install its infrastructure in 50,912 homes in Tarragona, 37,043 in Girona and 26,286 in Lleida.

Adamo Fiberhood

With the aim of providing high-speed fiber optics to the most remote areas, the company has an innovative tool:  Adamo Fiberhood. It is a system through which, only with the joint request of 30 neighbors through a simple website, it is enough for the company to commit to make a deployment study in their municipality. Thus, Fiberhood is positioned as a key instrument that allows Adamo to reach places that other operators do not reach, each town having its own group:
  1. Fiber optics in Das
  2. Fiber optics in Alp
  3. Fiber optics in Fontanals de Cerdanya
  4. Fiber optics in Urús

Adamo, based in Barcelona, is an operator with a national vocation, but with a regional and local business focus. Present in the Spanish market since 2007, the company gives priority to rural areas and new urban areas with a high population density, providing the fastest optical fiber on the market (1,000 Mbps). EQT Partners, Adamo's investment fund and majority partner, supports its current expansion plan, boosted last July with 600 million euros. Likewise, Adamo is the main awardee of the New Generation Broadband Program (PEBA-NGA 2020-2022), financed by the State and the EU, having received 80 million in subsidies to bring high-speed Internet to nearly 500,000 homes located in rural areas of 20 provinces. Thanks to its own infrastructure, in addition to the Internet, Adamo provides customers with fixed and mobile telephony, as well as services for the business and wholesale market.
